Better sleep from the very first night thanks to mandibular advancement

Somnolis is an anti-snoring mouthpiece designed to effectively combat occasional snoring using the recognised medical principle of mandibular advancement. By gently holding the lower jaw forward, this mouthpiece naturally frees the airways, significantly improving breathing quality at night. Its ease of use, without thermoforming, makes it an ideal choice for occasional situations such as travel, medical stays or holiday periods. Somnolis can also be used to test mandibular advancement before investing in anti-snoring solutions with dental impressions, such as SomnoFit-S or SomnoFit.

Description

Le snoring affects a significant proportion of the adult population and is often more than just a noise nuisance. It is mainly due to excessive relaxation of the soft tissues in the throat. These vibrations can not only interrupt restful sleep, but also generate physiological disturbances such as chronic fatigue, excessive daytime sleepiness, impaired concentration and a general decline in quality of life. In the longer term, the chronic snoring can progress to more serious conditions, in particular obstructive sleep apnoea, which is associated with major complications such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular problems, diabetes and other diseases. risks to general health.

Adapting the product to your jaw

Somnolis moves the lower jaw forward a few millimetres to free up the back of the tongue and allow inhaled air to pass through. This action can reduce snoring and provide restful sleep.

Before going to bed, fold the mouthpiece and place it in the mouth with the adjustment band over the upper teeth.

Possibly cut the lower guide if it injures the gum.

4 flexible adjustment bands numbered 0, 2, 4 and 6 are supplied. This number represents the advancement in mm of the lower jaw compared with the normal position without the appliance. Depending on the morphology of the teeth, the actual advancement value may vary. Band No. 0 is the weakest and band No. 6 is the strongest. Try band 2 first; if necessary, change the band according to the following criteria:

    • If the jaw pull is too strong or uncomfortable, or if the Somnolis does not hold in the mouth, use a lower value band (e.g. 2 instead of 4). Depending on the morphology of the teeth, the appliance may not fit in the mouth even if the band is changed. In this case, it is unusable and you are advised to opt for an orthotic with a dental impression, such as SomnoFit or SomnoFit-S.
    • If the hum does not decrease sufficiently, use a higher band value (e.g. 4 instead of 2).

    Advice

To optimise the therapeutic effectiveness of the Somnolis mouthpiece, we recommend combining its use with other complementary devices such as the ClipAir nasal dilatorwhich makes it easier to breathe through the nose at night, or the PosiFormThis is known to reduce the incidence of positional snoring.

If you have any doubts about the health of your teeth or jaw, consult your dentist for advice before use. If you experience daytime fatigue, you may be suffering from sleep apnoea. It is essential that you consult your doctor for a full check-up. Monitor your teeth and jaw daily and stop using the device immediately in the following cases:

    • If the lower jaw does not return easily to its normal position after removal of the Somnolis
    • If you notice any tooth movement or displacement
    • If you have signs of allergy, irritation, insensitivity, tingling or if redness appears.

For regular use (every night) and for prolonged periods, we recommend the use of a mandibular advancement orthosis. SomnoFit or SomnoFit-S.
